Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) leaves gaps: deductibles, 20% coinsurance with no annual cap, and costs for extended hospital stays. A Medicare Supplement plan fills those gaps, so your out-of-pocket costs are predictable and you can see any doctor or hospital in the country that accepts Medicare.

Plans are standardized by letter, so a Plan G from one carrier covers the same benefits as a Plan G from another — the difference is price and rate history. We shop multiple A-rated carriers to find the strongest value for your ZIP code.

  • Plan G and Plan N — the most popular choices for new enrollees.
  • Freedom to see any Medicare-accepting provider nationwide, with no referrals.
  • Pairs with a standalone Part D prescription drug plan.
  • Ideal for travelers, snowbirds and anyone who wants predictable costs.

Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans

Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurers and replace Original Medicare with an all-in-one plan. Many include prescription drug coverage plus extras such as dental, vision, hearing and fitness benefits, often with low or $0 monthly premiums.

Advantage plans typically use provider networks (HMO or PPO) and an annual out-of-pocket maximum. We check that your doctors, hospitals and medications are covered before you enroll, so there are no surprises.

  • Low or $0 premium options in many counties.
  • Built-in prescription, dental, vision and hearing benefits on many plans.
  • An annual maximum on out-of-pocket costs.
  • Doctor and prescription checks done for you before enrollment.

Supplement or Advantage — which is right for you?

There is no one-size answer. A Supplement costs more each month but offers the widest choice of doctors and very low bills when you need care. Advantage costs less up front but uses networks and copays. We look at your health, your doctors, your travel plans and your budget, then show you both options side by side.

Frequently asked questions

When can I enroll in a Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage plan?

Your Initial Enrollment Period runs from three months before to three months after the month you turn 65. Your Medigap open enrollment starts when Part B begins and lasts six months. Medicare Advantage changes can also be made during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7.

What is the difference between Medigap and Medicare Advantage?

Medigap works alongside Original Medicare and pays most of the costs Medicare leaves behind, with any Medicare-accepting doctor nationwide. Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a private plan, often with extra benefits and networks.

Does it cost more to use an agent?

No. Plan prices are the same whether you enroll on your own or with us, and New Generations Financial never charges fees.

Can you help me if I live outside San Antonio?

Yes. We help clients across Texas and the United States, meeting by private Zoom meeting when an in-home visit isn't practical.

Do Medicare plans cover prescriptions?

Most Medicare Advantage plans include drug coverage. With a Medicare Supplement you add a standalone Part D plan — we compare those too.
